National Self-Care Week 2025: Prioritising Mind & Body

National Self-Care week
Is an annual awareness campaign from November 17-23, 2025, that encourages people to take control of their physical and mental health. The 2025 theme is “Mind & Body”.
National Self Care Week is the perfect opportunity for employers to spotlight the importance of employee wellbeing and resilience, but this shouldn’t be a one off thing; with rising workloads, rapid change, and the ongoing pressures of modern work, supporting staff in caring for their physical and mental health is no longer a “nice-to-have”—it’s essential for a healthy, productive, and sustainable workplace.
Here are practical, impactful ideas for increasing awareness about wellbeing and building personal resilience across your organisation.
Start With a Clear Message: Wellbeing Matters Here.
Kick off the week with a message from leadership emphasising why self-care is important and how the organisation intends to support it. This sets the tone and reinforces that wellbeing isn’t a trend—it’s a shared value.
Host Daily Micro-Sessions on Key Wellbeing Topics.
You don’t need day-long workshops to make an impact, in fact more regular 20–30 minute sessions through the year will help to keep team members focused on the importance of self-care. You could look at:
- Mindfulness or breathing exercises
- Desk-based mobility or stretching routines
- Nutrition hacks for busy workdays
- Understanding stress response and resilience
- Digital wellbeing: managing screen overload
Make these optional, inclusive, and accessible (record them for remote workers).
Encourage Break Culture — and Model It.
Team members are more likely to look after themselves when they see leaders doing the same. We should encourage:
- A “Take Ten” break each afternoon
- Walking meetings
- Lunch away from desks
- A no-meeting hour or half-day
This helps normalise rest as a productivity tool, not a sign of slacking.
Launch a Self-Care Resource Hub team members can access at any time.
Create a simple page or workspace where team members can find wellbeing content, such as:
- Guides on sleep, nutrition, exercise, and mental health
- Resilience-building tools
- Links to your Employee Assistance Programme
- Short videos or infographics
- A “Build Your Own Self-Care Plan” worksheet
This becomes a long-term asset beyond Self Care Week.
Introduce a Personal Resilience Toolkit.
Help team members to build emotional and psychological resilience with structured tools like:
- Identifying stress triggers
- Setting boundaries at work
- Problem-solving techniques for overwhelm
- Confidence-building exercises
- Gratitude journaling or reflection prompts
You can create a downloadable PDF or host it in your intranet.
Celebrate team Stories.
Invite team members (voluntarily) to share their self-care habits or resilience tips. Examples:
“What I do to unwind after a busy week?”
“My favourite way to take a mindful pause”
“The best wellbeing tip I’ve learned this year”
Highlight these in internal newsletters or teams channels—shared experiences build a stronger culture.
Check-In With Managers.
Managers play a crucial role in team wellbeing. Offer them:
- A reminder of supportive communication techniques
- Guidance on recognising burnout signs
- Tips on designing manageable workloads
- A short manager resilience session
Empowered managers create emotionally healthier teams.
National Self Care Week is more than a themed awareness event—it’s a chance to actively strengthen your workplace culture, increase understanding of wellbeing, and help team members build personal resilience that lasts. Even small, consistent actions can make a meaningful difference.
By investing in self-care for your workforce, you’re investing in the long-term success, health, and happiness of your organisation.
